One Thousand 1000 Lire Banknote "Marco Polo" - Italy 1970/80

1000 Lire banknote from 1970/80 depicting on the front the image of Marco Polo and the header of the Bank of Italy and on the back the Doge's Palace of Venice.

This 1000 Lire banknote was created in the 1980s, with billions of copies in circulation. It remained legal tender until 1995, when it was replaced by the version with the image of Maria Montessori .

Some small signs of aging are visible, such as light creases, but overall the thousand Lire banknote with Marco Polo is in excellent condition.
